Why outsource your HR?

It comes as no surprise that admin tasks take up the majority of a business owners  time and this can make them feel like they are drowning in paperwork.  Battling with red tape and regulations can feel daunting, especially if you are not up to date with the latest changes in HR and employment law.

Hurdles like HR compliance, health and safety demands, pension schemes are stopping SME’s from growing their business and focusing on what truly matters.  Most small to medium sized business owners know the frustration of spending more time than they want on non-revenue generating activities. From payroll and human resource management to compensation and benefits, managers and directors can spend a significant proportion of their day engaged in these necessary but time consuming tasks.

A recent survey conducted by instantprint revealed what we already know – there’s not enough hours in the day to do everything.

James Kinsella, co-founder of instantprint, says, ‘We all know how it feels to fight the clock. There are only so many hours in the day to get everything done and SMEs are feeling the squeeze.

‘It’s interesting to see from the research that, while factors such as admin and staff management have an impact on productivity, it is the management of our hours, minutes and seconds that have the biggest effect on the running of a successful enterprise.’

The survey that asked 500 small businesses discovered that ‘distractions’ such as HR compliance and other admin tasks take up an average of ten hours of the working week. When you consider this on a monthly or yearly basis, this translates into a large amount of time. One in ten business owners has less than an hour a week put aside for business growth, while 8% confessed they have no time at all for it. Employment law surrounding working hours and holiday allowance was also highlighted as a significant toll on work efficiency.
